Bumpers

The Poison Spyder Customs BFH front bumper is a stubby and low profile designed with the best ground clearance, tire clearance and approach angle possible. It is just slightly wider than the Jeep’s frame rails, with angled facets to improve its ability to slide over the rocks. The bumper features a gusseted ‘Brawler Bar’, integrated winch mount that housed the Warn Tabour 10-s winch and provisions for mounting the factory fog lights.

The Poison Spyder BFH II Rear Bumper provides the most ground/obstacle clearance and best departure angle of any JK rear bumper on the market. To achieve this, the bulky rear frame rails and stock bumper mounts are trimmed and rear crossmember removed completely. To preserve the integrity of the Jeep JK’s frame strength, a Poison Spyder low profile BFH rear cross member was welded inlace of the original cross member.

To keep things low profile at the back end, the standard exhaust muffler was replaced with the Rugged Ridge off road exhaust back box which is designed to sit as high as possible for extreme off-road ground clearance whilst producing a more aggressive tone than a stock muffler.

A Rugged Ridge HD cast hinge tyre carrier, enables mounting of the 37” tyre with the low profile rear bumper.

Suspension, wheels and tyres

This Jeep uses the Teraflex 3” Outback suspension system. Designed as a complete suspension system exclusively for expedition style overland travel. This kit was designed from the ground up for a dedicated vehicle capable of supporting sustained self-reliant travel over extreme terrain.

Key features for the heavy duty overland setup are:

• Spring rates capable of handling additional weight such as roof rack and tent used on the Jeep.
• Hydraulic front bump stops, reduce harness of suspension bottoming out reducing the risk of bent axle tubes.
• Coil spring retainers keep the coils seated in their correct collision and eliminate the risk of them popping out the perch.
• Heavy duty adjustable front track bar.
• Upper and lower adjustable control arms allow correct wheelbase adjustment, castor and pinion angles.
• Suspension limit straps, prevent shock absorber over travel.
• Braided brake hoses provide a heavy duty upgrade with extra length for the increased suspension height and down travel.

Falcon 2.1 shock absorbers are designed specifically for the Jeep Wrangler JK with special modified mounting design that increases vehicle stability and improves dynamic roll control. The single tube design incorporates an oil/gas separator to prevent cavitation during rapid shock cycling. Falcon shocks feature Red Line Oil full synthetic shock oil for superior performance across all temperatures to reduce shock fade. The proprietary synthetic formula also contains special anti-wear and lubricity agents that produce excellent thermal stability. These qualities make them an excellent pairing for the outback system.

A Teraflex VSS9550 HD steering damper helps to reduce any imbalance through the steering, and is re-located above the tie bar using Teraflex steering damper relocation kit.

The 3” lift height combined with the Terafirma high clearance steel flat fenders clears the huge 37×13.5” Toyo open country tyres with simplistic Procomp 17×9” alloy wheels.

Axles ratios have been re-geared from 4.10 to 4.88 to compensate for the larger rolling circumference.

Roof rack and tent

Jeep Wranglers are notorious for the lack of storage space. Front Runner full roof rack offers a game changing solution by providing a rugged and sophisticated cargo carrying roof rack.

The JK Extreme mounting system bolts to the roll bar with middle and rear brackets as well as pillar brackets that secure to the existing front windshield hinge. This unobtrusive, high performance, nearly indestructible mounting solution allows you to quickly remove the Freedom Panels and works with the hard top or with no roof at all.

The cargo weight is evenly distributed across the roll bars and body of the jeep, placing zero weight on the hard top itself, meaning it is capable of using an ARB roof rent which cam unfold in minutes. A rooftop tent provides sleeping quarters off the ground, protected from the elements. Spacious and comfortable, all bedding can remain inside the tent during the journey, freeing up vital storage space in the vehicle, and allowing the tent to be quickly and easily packed away.
